When visiting Halle, St Martin's Basilica, home of the black Our Lady, is an absolute must!
From the moment the miraculous statue arrived, pilgrims and pilgrims came to Halle. Among them also numerous crowned heads who donated valuable objects to the Halle Madonna.
On Heritage Day, we will open the door to the underground treasure chamber and you can come and admire these treasures.

Open regional museum 'den AST'
Expo 'From Akarova to Thevenet. Halle in the arts'
800 years of city rights will be celebrated at the regional museum den AST with a unique exhibition: “From Akarova to Thevenet, Halle in the arts”. Based on around a hundred works, this exhibition paints a picture of Halle through the eyes of artists. Not only cityscapes are featured, but also famous Halle people, Halle porcelain and special Halle traditions. Families with children are also welcome at this expo! Find the mouse tracks in the museum, go on an adventure with the family game “BINGO Mystery” and dive into the fascinating world of hidden stories and unique facts with the brand new digital trail.

Open Tower of the Basilica
Climb the stairs of the 71m high tower and discover all there is to do in the tower along the way!
Climb the steps of the 71m high tower and marvel at the grandeur of the clock museum, the carillon room and, as the highlight, a view over Halle and the surrounding area.

Guided tour of the Saint Martin basilica
Together with a guide, discover the highlights of the interior of Halle Basilica.
Which masterpieces of European art history can you find in Halle's St Martin's Basilica? And what is the link between many crowned heads from our history and the basilica? You will find out this and much more during one of the guided tours on Heritage Day.

Carillon concert 'Stylish sounds'
With listening corner in the Mariahof
Especially for Heritage Day 2025, Halle city carilloneur Eddy Mariën will compile a playlist of songs from different musical styles, from classical music to folk tunes to pop music. You can enjoy this free concert from a terrace near the Grote Markt. Would you rather listen to this concert in peace and quiet? Then head to the Mariahof (between Dekenstraat and Vestingstraat). A quiet listening corner will be set up in this little oasis in the middle of the city.

Street drawing workshop
Heritage drawing and sketching like a pro!
This workshop is not only an artistic exploration, but also an original way to experience heritage with all the senses.
Admire Halle's impressive buildings and actively get to work putting them on paper. Sharpen your gaze, use your imagination and learn useful techniques to draw and sketch like a pro.

The town of Halle is blowing out 800 candles this year and that calls for a party! Join Vlieg on a quest to find everything you need to celebrate this smashing birthday and find out where Vlieg has hidden the party cake.

Photo sign 'Journey back to the Middle Ages''
Want a fun souvenir of 800 years of the city of Halle? Take a time travel to the year 1225!
Visit the tourism office and travel back in time to the year 1225, when Halle received its first city rights.
Step into our photo board and imagine yourself a king, queen, prince or princess from the Middle Ages. Take a nice picture and share it on your social media with the hashtag #visithalle - this way you will bring 800 years of history back to life!

Regional produce market 'Smaakhalte Brabant'
Tasty local and artisanal food and drink!
Be sure to stop at the 'Taste Stop' on Possozplein. It is the stop for local produce and delicious local food and drink. Sniff around the various stands and meet the producers and their artisanal delicacies.

Promenade concerts Vlamo
There is music in the air in Halle!
On Heritage Day, a party is always in order. And whoever thinks of parties, thinks of music! Vlamo, in cooperation with the town of Halle, is organising the successful kiosk concerts on the Grote Markt again. Settle down on one of the cosy terraces and enjoy the concerts of six music societies.
